Costa Rica holiday and honeymoons; An expert guide to Manuel Antonio National Park

Manuel Antonio is small but perfectly formed with three superb sweeping beaches and a backdrop of rainforest. The inviting turquoise water of the Pacific Ocean combines perfectly with the short trails to observe the many resident birds and mammals.

Costa Rica’s smallest national park is the most popular for many reasons, not least for close encounters with the inquisitive Squirrel monkeys – Central America’s rarest simian. Within relatively easy reach from San Jose, you can find quality retreats close to the park combining nature with a touch of luxury.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO:

  • Manuel Antonio National Park (closed on Mondays). Walk the short, marked trails enjoying the rich forest and looking out for monkeys, pelicans, hawk-eagles, trogons, racoons, sloths and many more.

  • Canopy Tour. Journey through the different layers of virgin and secondary rainforest on a canopy course consisting of 21 platforms, 9 zip lines, 2 rappel lines, one suspension bridge and a "Tarzan wing".
