Day 1. Fly to San Jose, Costa Rica
Fly from London to San Jose on the daytime flight. Met on arrival by our representative and transfer to Finca Rosa Blanca for two nights on a b&b basis.
Day 2. In San Jose
Free for personal exploration. We suggest a guided visit to San Jose including the gold museum, whitewater rafting, Poas volcano or a trip up Irazu volcano for spectacular views to the Caribbean and Pacific coasts.
Day 3. Transfer to Monteverde
Met in the morning and 4x4 transfer (3 hrs) to Monteverde and the Monteverde Lodge for 3 nights on a b&b basis. Afternoon free for personal exploration.
Day 4-5. In Monteverde
2 full days in Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve. There are a number of excursions that can be arranged and paid for locally, such as: guided day and night walks in the cloudforest, butterfly garden, orchid garden, skytrek and canopy tour, horse riding or mountain biking.
Day 6. Transfer to Arenal
Met in the morning and transfer by jeep and boat (3hrs) to Arenal via Rio Chiquito and Lake Arenal. 2 nights at the Tabacon Resort in a garden room on a b&b basis. Afternoon free for personal exploration. The resort has hot springs with great views of the volcano especially by night.
Day 7. In Arenal
The day is free, there are several excursions to choose from including: Arenal volcano hike, la fortuna waterfall, whitewater rafting on the sarapiqui river or a canopy tour.
Day 8. Transfer to Tortuguero
Met in the morning and transfer ( hrs) to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and the scenic route by boat ( hrs) into Tortuguero and the Laguna Lodge for 3 nights on a full board basis including all activities.
Day 9-10. In Tortuguero
2 full days in the Tortuguero National Park. There is an included programme of guided excursions which could include: boat trips along the inland waterways, short walks on trails, watching turtle nesting and hatching on the beaches (seasonal), the village of Tortuguero and the turtle museum.
Day 11. Transfer to Tambor
Met and transfer to the airport for your flight to Tambor via San Jose, depart 06:45 arrive 07:20; depart 08:40 arrive 09:10. Met on arrival and transfer (45mins) to Latitude 10 resort in a deluxe room for 3 nights on half board basis.
Day 12-13. In Tambor
2 days free for personal exploration. You can organise and pay locally for the following activities: swimming and snorkelling at Tortuga Island, Cayo Blanco national park, surf lessons, canopy tour, horse riding and sport fishing.
Day 14. Fly to London
Met in the morning and transfer to Tambor airport for your flight to San Jose, depart 08:10 arrive 08:50 to connect with your international overnight flight to London arriving day 15.
As a guideline, the itinerary outlined above would cost approximately £2,444 per person and includes all activities on a private basis unless stated, private transfers, internal flights, accommodation and taxes and meals where mentioned.
In addition the cost of your international flights from London and your internal flights in Costa rica will be approximately £750 per person.
