Day 1. Fly to Managua
Fly from London to Managua, on the daytime flight Met on arrival and transfer (2.5hrs) to San Juan del Sur and Morgan’s Rock Ecolodge for 3 nights on a full board basis.
Day 2-3. In San Juan del Sur
2 days free for personal exploration. Set in a private jungle reserve on the beach there are a large number of activities that can be arranged and paid for locally such as La Flor turtle reserve, jungle trails, kayaking, mountain biking or just relaxing.
Day 4. Ometepe Island
Met in the morning and transfer (1hr) to Rivas for the ferry (1hr) to Ometepe island. Met on arrival and transfer to the Hotel Villa Paraiso for 2 nights on a b&b basis.
Day 5. On Ometepe Island
The day is free for personal exploration. On this unique and lush island you can arrange an island tour, trek around or up either of the volcanoes, explore Charco Verde lagoon, discover pre-Columbian petroglyphs, mountain bike or horse ride.
Day 6. To Granada
Met for your morning transfer to Moyogalpa port and the ferry (1hr) to Rivas. Met on arrival and transfer (1hr) to Granada and the Hotel Plaza Colon for 3 nights in a deluxe room on a b&b basis.
Day 7-8. In Granada
2 days free for personal exploration. Granada is the oldest colonial city on the continent and has a variety of attractions, we would recommend: a half day guided city tour, boat trip on Lake Nicaragua, jeep trip to visit Mombacho Volcano and Masaya market.
Day 9. Fly San Carlos
Met in the morning for your transfer (1hr) to Managua airport and fly to San Carlos, depart 09:30 arrive. Met on arrival and transfer (2.5hrs) by boat to Refugio Bartola for 3 nights on a full board basis.
Day 10-11. In san Carlos
An included programme of excursions by boat and foot nature watching in the rich and diverse Indio Maiz Biological Reserve including a visit to the Spanish ‘El Castillo’ fort, scene of a battle with Lord Nelson.
Day 12. Fly to Corn Island
Met and transfer by boat (3hrs) upriver to San Carlos airport for your flight to Managua, depart arrive, and your connecting flight to Big Corn Island, depart arrive. Met on arrival and transfer to Hotel Casa Canada for 3 nights on a b&b basis.
Day 13-14. On Corn Island
2 days free for personal exploration. Big Corn Island has a number of pristine beaches, superb snorkelling and diving opportunities that can be arranged and paid for locally as well as a trip to Little Corn Island. There are also mountain bikes and sea kayaks for hire.
Day 15. Fly London
Met and transfer to the airport for your flight to Managua. Met on arrival and transferred to the international terminal for your connecting overnight flight to London arriving day 16.
As a guideline, the itinerary outlined above would cost approximately £2,190 per person and includes all activities on a private basis unless stated, private transfers, internal flights, accommodation and taxes and meals where mentioned.
In addition your international flights from London will be from £650 per person.
