Mexico holiday and honeymoons; An expert guide to Holbox
Located to the northwest of Cancun, Holbox Island is separated from the mainland coast of Mexico by a shallow lagoon, which gives sanctuary to thousands of flamingos, pelicans and other exotic birds and creatures.
It is a peaceful island with a very relaxed vibe; Holbox people mostly make their living fishing – you’ll often see fishermen wandering down the street with their catch. The streets are pale sand and there are very few vehicles – most people get around by bike or golf buggy. The development is generally low rise, with plenty of brightly painted Caribbean style houses, which makes it a great escape from the hectic pace of Cancun!
